EYC to Host 2009 Flying Scot North American Championships – 2007

The Board of Governors of the Flying Scot Sailing Association (“FSSA”) approached Midwest District Governor and EYC Fleet Captain, Ryan Malmgren, to invite EYC to consider hosting the 2009 North American Championships based on the positive press that EYC received after hosting the 100th Annual Regatta and Flying Scot Midwest District Championship.  After research, careful consideration and planning, the idea was presented to the EYC Board of Directors and approved  at its Spring board meeting.  Glenn Shaffer, President, and Barb Griffin, First Vice-President, of the FSSA recently confirmed that EYC has been awarded the 2009 venue.

This is an exciting undertaking that will take the combined effort of all members and friends of the Club.  This event will NOT be held in conjunction with the Ephraim Regatta as it traditionally occurs during the week.  Dates are being explored in early August; final dates will be confirmed shortly.  Racing includes a championship division, a challenger division, a women’s championship and a junior championship.  Of course, the racing will be augmented by social activities.

There is much planning and work ahead and we ask that everyone who is willing to get involved and have fun at the same time step forward and participate.  We will seek the assistance of the Village and other community organizations to make this a very successful and mutually beneficial event for all!

Much more information to come!
