Ephraim Regatta!

The Ephraim Regatta is this weekend.  Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help with this great event!

We still need one more volunteer: a powerboat and driver for Sunday to serve as an errand boat / gopher boat / judge boat. If you have an appropriate boat and can serve as boat driver beginning at 9:30 AM on Sunday, August 1, please contact regatta chairman Jay Lott [email protected] (414) 322-7880.

We are also stil looking for someone to loan an all-terrain vehicle or tractor which can be equipped with a trailer ball to launch and recover boats at the Firehouse Ramp on Saturday and Sunday.  We have a competent volunteer driver already, so we just need your ATV or tractor, not you.  If you can donate the use of such a vehicle, please contact Regatta Chairman Jay Lott (414) 322-7880 [email protected]

Regatta highlights include:

The Regatta Welcome Party is Friday, July 30 at 6 PM Jay Lott’s house, 9910 Mueller Lane, Bailey’s Harbor.  All are welcome – you do not need to be a Regatta participant or an EYC member to attend.  This EYC fundraiser is now in its fourth year.  This year’s menu includes smoked salmon, a green salad, duck kebabs, dill-lemon-butter steamed salmon, pheasant kebabs, grilled veggies, baked beans, s’mores, beer and soft drinks.  There also will be hot dogs and mac-n-cheese.  $12 adults, $6 children 12 and under, children 5 and under are free.  Volleyball, horseshoes, bocceball, and croquet will keep the children busy.  Parents are requested to supervise their children.  No dogs, please.  Directions from Ephraim:   Hwy Q east 3 1/2 miles; right on Mueller Lane.

Registration and check-in for competitors is at the EYC from 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday July 30 and from 8 AM to 9 AM on Saturday July 31.  Skippers who are preregistered must still personally check in prior to 9:00 AM on Saturday July 31.  To print a copy of the registration form and the Notice of Race, go to www.eyc.org/racing

Racing begins at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 31.  The EYC affords a terrific vantage point for spectators, and you can swim from the pier at the same time.  Sandwiches, cookies, chips and soft drinks will be available for purchase.  Racing continues on Sunday, August 31 beginning at 10:00 AM.

A free boat rigging and speed clinic will be led by Harry Carpenter of Flying Scot, Inc. and Ryan Malmgren of Mad Sails, on the EYC pier after the races on Saturday.

The legendary Bratfest, beginning at 6:00 PM on Saturday, July 31, will serve all-you-can-eat roasted corn, grilled bratwurst, beer and soft drinks in an outdoor setting.  All EYC members and their guests are welcome.  Bring your volleyball skills!  From the EYC, take Hwy. 42 south past the golf course to Maple Grove Road.  Turn left on Maple Grove.  Take Maple Grove east to Gibraltar Road.  Turn right on Gibraltar and go about 1/2 mile.  The driveway will be marked with flags on your right.  The address is “Camelot”, 3282 Gibraltar Road.  Your hosts will be the Klein family.  Parents are reminded to supervise their children.
