This Week at the EYC July 18-24

In addition to normal summer activities of catching up with old friends, racing or watching races, swimming, sunning, bridge, yoga, lessons, grilling out and just plain going sailing, here’s what’s happening this week at the EYC.

The FIRST MATES POT LUCK  is Wednesday, July 20 at the EYC beginning at 6:00 PM.

There is no Wednesday Junior Activity this week.

The THURSDAY TEEN ACTIVITY on July 21 will be an evening at Andersen’s Echo Island on Kangaroo Lake. There will be a teen potluck dinner and water activities.  Arrive at 6:00 P.M. at the Andersens dock, located 1 driveway north of 7646 W. Kangaroo Lake Rd. in Baileys Harbor.  Parents, please pick up your teens at the same location at 9:00 PM.  Everyone must bring a PFD, and either drinks, side dish or dessert.   Hot dogs and brats will be provided.  In order to participate in teen activities you must have completed 8th grade.  Chaperones welcome.  All participants should sign up at the EYC.  Questions?  Contact Heather Andersen 847-420-3978.

The rescheduled FAMILY REGATTA will take place on Saturday, July 23.  The Family Regatta will be held in conjunction with the regular Saturday morning series races.  You do not have to be eligible for Family Regatta prizes in order to race.  To be eligible for Family Regatta prizes, your Flying Scot must carry siblings, a parent and child, or a grandparent and grandchild.

Drawing for EYC members to skipper EYC-owned boats is at 9:15 AM, optional skippers meeting 9:30 AM, first warning signal 10:00 AM.  Push, pull or drag a family member on board your Scot, and race in the Family Regatta!  For more information see the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions at www.eyc.org/racing.

Please remember, to skipper an EYC-owned Flying Scot in the Family Regatta, you must have an EYC Skipper’s License.  For information on obtaining an EYC Skipper’s License, see the EYC Water Safety Policy at www.eyc.org/member-info.  Also, all persons sailing on EYC-owned boats must wear PFDs at all times regardless of weather.

If you have good (or even mediocre) digital photos of EYC-related events from 2011, please submit your photos to the EYC.  The EYC will post the photos in its public online photo archive at www.flickr.com/photos/ephraimyachtclub/collections.  Your photos may also be used in the Eagle’s Cry.

We especially like good sailing action photos, and photos of EYC members and juniors having fun at various EYC events.

You can submit your photos by e-mail to [email protected], or on a thumb drive or CD to Ben Schallip at the EYC.  Sorry, pictures which are uploaded to your account at an online photo archive service like Snapfish or Flickr cannot be transferred online to the EYC’s Flickr archive.

Please submit your photos.  We want to build an EYC photo archive which future generations can look back on with a smile!
