This week at the EYC June 21-29

PLEASE LEND YOUR PFDS TO THE EYC.  The EYC needs to borrow approximately 30 adult-sized life jackets (PFDs) for use for use in giving free sailboat rides during our membership open house on Saturday, June 21.  Please help by lending some PFDs to the EYC.  Just write your name on each PFD in permanent marker, drop off your PFDs at the EYC prior to 2:00 PM Saturday, and pick them up any time after 4:30 PM Saturday.  Thanks!

Summer officially begins this week, with the solstice!  Here’s what’s happening at the EYC:

Saturday, June 21 is EPHRAIM’S FYR BAL FESTIVAL.  The EYC has a full day of events planned:

7:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M.  EYC PANCAKE BREAKFAST at the Ephraim Village Hall.  Please come and bring your family and friends.  This event is open to the public and is a fundraiser for EYC sailing lesson scholarships. All you can eat pancakes and sausage plus juice and coffee for only $8 adults and $5 children 12 and under.

9:00 A.M.  Boat draw for the FYR BAL REGATTA, which will also be scored as part of the normal Saturday Flying Scot series.  Boat draw 9:00 A.M., first warning signal 10:00 A.M.

2:00 P.M. – 4:30 P.M.  OPEN HOUSE AND FREE SAILBOAT RIDES for prospective members.  If you have a friend who is thinking of joining the EYC, bring them to the EYC for a short tour and slide show, followed by a sailboat ride in one of the EYC’s Flying Scots, skippered by an EYC instructor.

6:00 P.M.  FYR BAL FAMILY COOKOUT.  The EYC will grill up some delicious meats.  Bring your own side dish (and maybe some to share) and beverages.  After the cookout, we will watch as the Fyr Bal bonfires are lit, followed by fireworks.  Another FREE party at the EYC!

EYC ladies and their guests are invited to participate in an ART GALLERY TOUR BY TROLLEY on the evening of Wednesday, June 25.  The evening will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the EYC with appetizers and adult beverages.  The trolley will depart at 5:30 to visit three galleries, with artist’s tours.  Return to the EYC to watch the sunset at 8:00 p.m.  Cost is $75 per person.  This event benefits the EYC’s Aaron R. Moore Sailing Scholarship Fund. Seats are very limited and advance sign up is required.  To sign up contact Heather Andersen [email protected]

The WEDNESDAY JUNIOR ACTIVITY on June 25 will be mini golf at the Red Putter.  Drop off at the Red Putter at 5:00 PM, pick up at 6:30 PM.  Bring enough money for each child to pay greens fees. The THURSDAY TEEN ACTIVITY on June 26 will be bowling and pizza at the Sister Bay Bowl, beginning at 5:00 PM and lasting until 7:00 PM.  Bring $10 to cover the cost of pizza and bowling. Participants must have completed 8th grade.  Sign up on the poster at the EYC beginning Friday, June 20.

The FAMILY REGATTA will be raced in Flying Scots, as part of the normal Saturday Flying Scot races, on the morning of June 28.  Boat draw 9:00 A.M., first warning signal 10:00 A.M.  For more information, including eligibility for Family Regatta prizes, see the Notice of Race at www.eyc.org/racing

The EYC’s free OPENING SOCIAL begins at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 28. The EYC will supply wine, beer, and soft drinks.  Please bring an hors d’oeuvre to share.  Dress is summer casual. Please, no dogs at this event. This event is open to EYC members and guests ages 18 and up, and to all EYC staff and their spouses.  Another FREE EYC PARTY!

The DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR SESSION C LESSONS is noon on Sunday, June 29.  Session C lessons are offered in the morning and in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, from June 30 through July 11.  For more information, and to register, go to www.eyc.org/lessons
