This week at the EYC July 26 – August 3

Here’s what is happening at the EYC this week:

The rescheduled FYR BAL REGATTA will take place as part of the normal Saturday Flying Scot races on July 26.  Drawing for qualified members to use an EYC-owned Scot at 9:00 AM, first race at 10:00 AM.

The EYC’s FLYING SCOT FLEET 44 WILL MEET at noon on Saturday, July 26, at the EYC.  All EYC Flying Scot sailors, and persons interested in improving our Flying Scot fleet, are invited to attend, regardless of whether you own a Flying Scot.  Pizza will be served!  The meeting will also include a debrief of that morning’s Fyr Bal Regatta. The EPHRAIM OPTIMIST REGATTA will take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27, for juniors who have not yet reached their 16th birthday by July 1, 2014.  The drawing for the use of an EYC-owned Optimist is at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, and races start at 2:00 P.M.  The first race on Sunday starts at 10:00 A.M. and the regatta should be completed by around noon.

The DEADLINE TO ENROLL IN LESSON SESSION E is noon on Sunday, July 27.  Session E lessons are offered in both the morning and the afternoon, Monday through Friday, from July 28 through August 8. For more information about EYC sailing lessons, and to enroll, go to www.eyc.org/lessons

The EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR THE EPHRAIM REGATTA is Sunday, July 27.  Register by that date in order to receive your $10 early registration discount. Discounts are also available for skippers 18 and under ($15) and for US SAILING members ($5).  REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW.  To view the Notice of Race and to register, go to www.eyc.org/racing

The WEDNESDAY JUNIOR ACTIVITY on July 30 is a lawn party at the Fogle home, 10563 Stock Lane in Ephraim.  Fun, games, croquet, limbo, hot dogs, s’mores. Sign up on the poster at the EYC. Bring $5 per child. Drop off 5:30 PM, pick up 7:30 PM.  Please drop off or park on the road and walk down the driveway. The THURSDAY TEEN ACTIVITY on July 31 is big boat sailing with the Petersons and Bridenhagens from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Don’t miss this day in the sun and on the water! Meet at Yacht Works in Sister Bay. Bring closed toe shoes, PFD, and food (a grill will be available). Sign up on the poster at the EYC by Wednesday, July 30th. The Price family invites all EYC members to an OPEN HOUSE TRIBUTE TO DORIS PRICE on Friday, August 1 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 9889 Water St., Ephraim.

The EPHRAIM REGATTA WELCOME PARTY is on Friday August 1 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Olga Dana Green (the park across the street from the EYC).  All EYC members and friends, and regatta competitors and their families, are invited to this casual party. The menu is pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad and cookies. Soft drinks are included in admission price / BYO adult beverage. $10 ages 11 and up, $5 age 10 and under — pay at the head of the food line.

The DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR THE EPHRAIM REGATTA is 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 2. Registration is online only at www.eyc.org/racing.  No paper registration will be available.

EPHRAIM REGATTA RACING BEGINS at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 2 and 10:00 AM on Sunday, August 3. Spectators are encouraged to watch from the EYC’s pier and on the water.  Waterborne spectators, please observe good race spectator etiquette — for details click here.

All Ephraim Yacht Club members and friends are invited to the LEGENDARY BRATFEST, which starts at 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 2.  $13 adults, $6 children 11 and under (children 5 and under are free). Famous grilled brats, grill-roasted sweet corn on the cob, beer and soft drinks, volleyball, music, and great company.   Hosted by the Klein family.  Location: 3282 Gibraltar Road, Fish Creek, WI.  Directions from the EYC:  South on Hwy. 42 to intersection with Maple Grove Road.  Left (east) on Maple Grove to intersection with Gibraltar Road.  Right on Gibraltar Road to 3282.  Look for the flags on the side of the road.
