Saturday Night- April 25th. EYC Scholarship Fundraiser

Tuesday, April 21st, 2015

Aloha EYC Members and Friends

There is still time to register for this Saturday’s April 25 third annual EYC Aaron R Moore Sailing Scholarship Fundraiser held at the Lake Forest Club in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Go on a South Pacific Island adventure where you’ll experience a warm welcome lei greeting, amazing luau décor, beautiful Island music and dancing. Chef Luke has planned a delicious array of authentic Island appetizers, dinner entrees including a traditional pig roasted on a spit, sides, desserts and drinks. We’ll bring the magic of the Islands to you and your friends with the beautiful live dances of Hawaii, the exciting drum dances of Ori Tahiti, and the fascinating Maori dances of New Zealand.

Our favorite Door County Merchants have again donated over 70 items for our silent auction. We have amazing home décor items from City Farmer and Blue Willow, Irish woolens from O’Meara’s Irish House, a beautiful scrimshawed rigging knife from Gary Kirakoff, resort, dining and sports packages, Jersey Boy tickets, Chicago Symphony Orchestra tickets, and Cubs vs. Brewers tickets. We have beautiful floral arrangements, power tools! and amazing artwork by our famous DC artists, just to name a very few!

Last year we were able to provide 30 sailing scholarships to the boys and girls of Door County who would not have otherwise had the opportunity to learn to sail. We depend on your support to make this fundraiser a success. Please go to the link below to register for the event or to make an online donation.

Opti Clinic, Quickbooks and April 25th Gala

Tuesday, April 14th, 2015

It is amazing to think that EYC will be opening in just 6 weeks!  Here are a few items that may be of interest to you.

1.  Friendly Reminder to Parents of Opti Sailors

This summer the EYC will be hosting two fabulous clinics led by Chicago Yacht Club’s Bobby Collins on July 9th and 10th. These clinics will immediately precede the EYC’s annual Opti Regatta. Session B Beginner lessons have been shortened and pro-rated to allow interested students to enroll in the clinics. Enrollment is limited to EYC members only through April 14th. As of April 15th registration will be open to the public. We anticipate strong interest in these clinics. For more information on the Opti Clinic and to enroll, visit www.eyc.org/lessons.

2.  EYC is looking for volunteers to help in 2 areas:

If you have experience with Quickbooks, and could contribute time working with our treasurer, please contact Rob Treleven at rtreleven@gmail.com

If you would be interested in heading up a pancake breakfast Fyrbal Weekend, June 20th, please contact Jack O’Rourke at jorourke@ableserve.com

3.  Don’t forget to register and support the Aaron R Moore Scholarship Gala on April 25th in Lake Forest. It will be a great way to gather with EYC friends old and new.   To register, please click here.
