New in 2012:

* The Regatta Welcome Party on the evening of Friday, August 3, will be a grill-out in the park across the street from the EYC, starting at 6:00 PM.  Admission (payable at the head of the food line) will be $5/person.  The EYC will grill burgers and sausages; everyone is asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Soft drinks will be provided but alcoholic beverages are BYO. All EYC members, their guests, and non-member regatta participants are invited. Please attend and welcome our regatta competitors!

* The EYC will host the Midwest District Flying Scot Singlehanded Championship Regatta on the afternoon of Friday, August 3.  The Singlehanded Championships will consist of three relatively short races.  Spinnakers will be allowed, and spectators are encouraged!  You must be registered to compete in the Ephraim Regatta in order to compete in the Singlehanded Championships.

* Pre-registration for the Ephraim Regatta will be online.  In-person registration will be available at the EYC on the evening of Friday August 3 and the morning of Saturday August 4.  August 1 is the deadline to receive a pre-registration discount of $10.

As always, the social highlight of the Ephraim Regatta will be the Bratfest hosted by the Klein and Claypool families on the evening of Saturday, August 4.  All EYC members and guests are invited, no reservations necessary!

Larry Lewis Memorial Fund

May 1st, 2012

Some EYC members have donated to the EYC to create a fund in memory of Larry Lewis, who was an enthusiastic mentor to EYC juniors.

The Larry Lewis Memorial Fund will be used to support and encourage junior sailing at the EYC.  The fund has purchased an Optimist sailboat, which will be named after Larry.  The fund will purchase gift certificates to be given as prizes at the end of each lesson session to the most enthusiastic boy and girl in the Sailing Camp lesson level.  The prize will be called the “Larry Lewis Memorial Happy Camper Award.”

The fund remains open to additional contributions, all of which will support junior sailing at the EYC.  To give, go to http://eyc.org/donate/

Thanks to those who have donated already to the Larry Lewis Memorial Fund:

Last Chance to Bid on the EYC’s Wave Runner

April 29th, 2012

Noon on May 1 is the deadline to bid in the auction to purchase the EYC’s used Wave Runner and trailer.  Currently the high bid is only $270.

Details: Yamaha Wave Runner 650LX, used.  Needs a new fuel pump, according to the EYC’s mechanic.  Already has a new battery and a new trailer strap.  The trailer is in nice condition, with no rust and good lights, wiring and tires.

Questions about the Wave Runner?  E-mail dockside@eyc.org

TO BID: send an e-mail to dockside@eyc.org giving your name and the bid amount. Sorry, in order to keep things fair for all bidders, no further information as to the current high bid amount will be provided.  Bids must be in multiples of $10.  Final bid deadline is noon, Central Time, May 1, 2012.   The high bidder is required to pay the bid amount by personal check not later than May 10, 2012.  The Wave Runner can be inspected in Bailey’s Harbor — contact dockside@eyc.org to arrange for a viewing.  For a winning bidder who is outside Door County, the EYC will store the Wave Runner until June 2012 free of charge.
