Sunday, August 7th, 2011

It’s hard to believe that the EYC’s peak summer season is just about over.  Here’s what’s happening in this final big week.

This is the last week of the EYC’s CLUB SERIES RACES.  Come on down to race or to watch the EYC’s junior and senior sailors compete:  Monday evening Flying Scots, Tuesday evening Optimists, Friday evening Flying Juniors and Lasers, Saturday afternoon Optimists, and Sunday afternoon Flying Juniors and Lasers.  The Flying Scot races normally scheduled for Saturday, August 13 are moved to the morning of Sunday, August 14.  For more information on racing at the EYC see www.eyc.org/racing.

The EYC’s ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MEMBERS is Saturday, August 13 at 9:00 AM at the EYC.  This is your opportunity to learn the state of the EYC, give your input on what you want the EYC to be, and elect some new Directors to the EYC’s board.  If you are a voting member (Family, Single, Senior or Life) please attend so that we can have a quorum.

Help end the EYC’s social season in style at the COMMODORE’S PARTY, Saturday, August 13 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the pavilion by the ballpark at the Sister Bay Sports Complex.   Everyone is welcome at this EYC fundraiser!  Bring an appetizer; the EYC supplies wine, beer, and soft drinks.  Admission is $15 (adults and children age 9 and older) or $8 (age 8 and under).  Your personal check is preferred.

Directions:  from Hwy. 42 in Sister Bay, take ZZ east to Woodcrest Road.  Turn left and park by the ball field, or go in the main entrance and park by the tennis courts.

PERSONAL GEAR:  Parents, please be sure that your children clean up their PFDs, clothing, towels, bags and other gear and not leave it lying about at the EYC.  When the staff arrive each morning, they need to be able to concentrate on teaching, not on cleaning up junior gear.

EYC PICNIC FACILITIES:  The EYC is a great place for members to have a family cookout.  The EYC provides gas grills, grilling utensils, picnic tables, rest rooms, a  great view, a water fountain, swimming, and trash receptacles.  Members are reminded to clean up after themselves.  Please place all trash in the correct receptacles, turn off the gas grills, wipe off the picnic tables, clean the EYC’s grilling utensils, and do all the other things you would do if you had just grilled in your own back yard.

Thanks for helping to keep the EYC neat and clean!
