The Ephraim Yacht Club (EYC) is a community sailing center located in Door County, Wisconsin. The primary purposes of the EYC are sailing education and the promotion of amateur sailboat racing.  The EYC is located on Eagle Harbor in the beautiful and historic Village of Ephraim.   The EYC is a public charity qualified under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The EYC is open from early June through late September, but most of the EYC’s organized events are concentrated in the high summer season from mid-June through mid-August.

Membership is open to all. Family, Senior, Single and Student memberships are available.  EYC members include year-round and summer residents of Ephraim and other towns in Door County, as well as many shorter-term visitors to Door County.  There is no residency requirement to join the EYC.

A staff of US Sailing-certified instructors teaches junior and adult group lessons from June 10 through August 16.  Private lessons are also available.  Supervised Junior Activities, such as sailing picnics and a scavenger hunt, are open to all Junior members each week throughout the summer.

The EYC hosts a full calendar of social events (which also serve as charitable fundraisers), including a Fyr Bal Family Cookout, an Opening Social, a 4th of July Ice Cream Social, a Regatta Welcome Party, a Regatta Bratfest, a Founder’s Day Picnic and a Commodore’s Party.  Impromptu barbeques and cocktail gatherings occur throughout the summer.  EYC cruising boats gather in rafts for picnics and socializing at several of the Door Peninsula’s summer fireworks displays.  The EYC also has an active contingent of bridge players.  The EYC’s pier is excellent for swimming.

The EYC runs several weekly race series.  Flying Scot races are held on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings.  Laser and 420 races are held Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.  Optimist races are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.

The EYC owns fleets of Flying Scots (8), 420s (18), Lasers (10), and Optimists (12), which are available for use by qualified members free of charge.  Dry slips for privately owned Flying Scots, Lasers, Optimists, paddleboards, windsurfers, kayaks and other sailboats are available to members.

The EYC hosts an annual regatta in early August each year.  The regatta includes Flying Scots and other classes.  The Ephraim Regatta is the oldest on the Great Lakes, having been held every year since 1906.  Annual season-opener, Optimist, junior, and Women’s regattas are held.

Founded in 1906, the EYC has a rich history and is an integral part of the historic and scenic Village of Ephraim.

Annual membership dues range from $65 to $175, with a one-time $200 initiation fee (waived for Student members).  Membership is open to all — no sponsorship or recommendation is required, and there is no residency requirement.  To join the EYC, click here.   If you have questions about membership, contact the EYC’s membership chair membership@eyc.org
