Renewal notice sent were sent out mid-January. If you did not see it, please check your spam folder and/or ask your partner to check their email and spam.
When renewing your membership, please check that your address, email and telephone numbers for your account are correct and if necessary, [email protected] with the needed changes and one of the membership volunteers will edit your account information. If no changes are needed, kindly leave everything formatted as is for the EYC printed directory.

The countdown to summer starts now! EYC lesson registrations opens onSaturday, February 1st at 8:00 a.m. We have 11 Sessions for 2025 with two week sessions offered in sessions A, B, C, D, and E.

The EYC operates one of the largest and oldest sailing schools in the midwest. We offer lessons from beginner to advanced, racing and power boating skills, youth and adults, and one and two weeks sessions are available.
The Ephraim Yacht Club is accepting applications for the following positions for the 2025 summer season. If interested, please send your resume, including sailing and powerboat experience, references, date of birth, current year in school, available dates for work, and contact information to: Lisa Gifford at [email protected].
SAILING INSTRUCTOR
Sailing Instructor duties include teaching sailing lessons, running races, working dock and mentoring of dock assistants and students. Other duties include general clubhouse maintenance/cleaning, member assistance, and equipment care and maintenance.
Applicants should be small boat sailors with a solid sailing resume, instruction and racing experience favorable. Instructors are required to have US Sailing Level I Instructor certification or higher level US Sailing certification, current CPR/First Aid AED, and SafeSport certifications prior to employment. Sailing Instructors should expect to work approximately 35 to 40 hours per week. Applicants must be have reached their 16th birthday by December 31st, 2025.
DOCK ASSISTANT
Dock Assistant primary duties include keeping EYC facilities clean/equipped, and assisting members. Dock assistants also assist in launching, docking, storing boats, and race management. Ability to sail effectively is preferred and will help future role progression. Dock Assistants are required to have current CPR/First Aid and SafeSport certifications prior to employment.
Dock Assistants should expect to work approximately 20-30 hours per week. Applicants should have reached their 15th birthday by December 31st, 2025. Applicants under the age of 16 are required to have a WI child labor form.
You don’t have to wait until next summer to catch the views of the Peninsula Park Bluff and Horseshoe Island. We are so excited! Although the clubhouse and dock are prepared for the off season, members can spend time on the dock remotely with the newly reconfigured Dock Cam! Use this link to access our Dock Cam. CANCELLED- New Year’s Eve Social- Tuesday, December 31st
Due to ongoing renovations at the Village Hall, we are sad to announce that this event will not be happening this year, but we are quite certain the EYC NYE Gathering in 2025 will make up for it!
Fun fact about the Norse people (it is Door County after all)~ There was a celebratory dinner between Vikings and the Montauk Native Americans that took place more than 600 years prior to 1621 when the Montauk Indians hosted a dinner with 50 Vikings atop of Fort Hill. The Vikings would not have found their way to the Americas without sailing. Sailing in part allowed for the coming together of different cultures. The Ephraim Yacht Club, founded in 1906, has always focused on teaching sailing while promoting values like teamwork, responsibility, and respect for nature. Through its programs, the club helps students build life skills that support their growth as active, engaged members of the community.
Hopefully you received your Eagles Cry and if you read the Commodore Report, I wrote that your Board was committed to putting in place apparent donation opportunities for the Ephraim Yacht Club. We feel that it is time for EYC to humbly ask that you consider a donation to the EYC when you choose which organizations you will donate to this year. All donations support the EYC’s Mission and will ensure we can always say “See you on the dock” and “There will always be an Ephraim Regatta.”

All funds received will go towards the long term endowment, equipment or facilities upgrades. No donation is too small; any amount is greatly appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible. The EYC would like to thank Vivi Sauter, Jess Sauter, Steve Sauter, Charlie Sauter, Rob Cowles, Wally Waleffe, Matt Whinnacker, Pete Moegenburg, Gary MooreMyra DeLong, Suzanne Lisle, Marsella Fultz, Laura O’Rourke, Nancy Claypool, Andrew Gifford and Colin Knight. They did an amazing job of preparing the Clubhouse and Dock for their long winter’s rest in record time.
Summer’s end is bittersweet. This weekend marks the end of Summer and the time when we prepare the EYC for it’s long winter sleep. However, this year we will be bringing back our New Year’s eve social!
Fall Close-up Day-Saturday, August 31st
While we are all forlorn to bid adieu to the summer of 2024 and all the wonderful sailing and fellowship that occurred, we must all look towards our winter activities and the first one being closing up the Clubhouse for the winter. For those EYC members in Door County during the Labor Day week, please come on down to the dock for our fall close-up day on Saturday, August 31st. We will start at 9:00 a.m. and we will have refreshments for the participants.

Bridge
Bridge will continue through September and follows the following schedule: Mondays – 1:00 – 3:00/3:30 Open play, Tuesdays – 4:30 – 6:30, Couples (bring a partner) and Thursdays – 9:30 – 11:30/Noon – Open Play. Last day of bridge will be September 30th.

EYC/EHF C0-Ed Bunco Night- Saturday, August 17th
Please join the Ephraim Yacht Club and Ephraim Historical Foundation for a jointly hosted Adult Co-Ed Bunco night at the Ephraim Yacht Club clubhouse on Saturday, August 17 at 6:30PM. Registration at the door costs $10 per person, with proceeds going to both non-profit organizations. Don’t miss out on this fun night of games and prizes! Snacks will be on the tables – this event is BYOB. We look forward to seeing you there!

Commodore’s Cocktail-Wrap-up
The Commodore’s Cocktail Party/Fundraiser was Commodore Lisa Gifford’s opportunity to recognize, honor and celebrate the sailors who race in the weekly race series throughout the season. Additionally, the Sportsmanship award was bestowed to Max Travnicek. The Volunteer of the year Award was bestowed to Jeanne Papenthien and Marta Fonseca was named Vice Commodore. We would also like to recognize departing board member Hugh Haggerty and welcome new board members Julia Reynolds and Susanna Mortara!!
A huge thank you to the creative and amazing *Julie Watkins* who chaired the party, created amazing floral arrangements and strung up pfds reminding membership that the Membership, BOD, staff and volunteers are who keeps the Commodore and EYC afloat!
