Lasers
The EYC Laser is a 13’, single handed dingy with one sail. The EYC has approximately 10 Lasers with full, radials, and 4.7 rigs. They are a popular boat to race among racers of all ages.
The appeal of the Laser comes from their minimalist design and that it feels very fast especially on high wind days. During the weekly nightly series races there is a competitive field comprised of adults, instructors and young racers.
Fleet Activities
The Laser fleet is very active with 2 races per week and a two day regatta in July. In addition, the Laser Masters series is held on alternating Friday evenings, as part of the regular Friday Laser series. If you are interested in learning more about racing Lasers/Master Lasers at EYC, please contact Penelope Whiteside and Charlie Dischner at [email protected].
Weekly Series
The two Laser weekly series are held on Tuesday and Fridays with a 5pm boat draw and a 6pm race start. These are popular nightly races among the members at EYC. Everyone is encouraged and welcome to race. Trophies are awarded to nightly race winners and plaques are awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd place overall winners at the end of the season. There is also a trophy for the top woman skipper in the Friday series. The Laser Masters Trophy is a “keeper” trophy awarded to the highest placing skipper in the EYC’s Friday Laser Masters series who is at least 30 years old as of July 1 of that year.
